About Us

Lions Hearing Dog Program

A presentation on the Lions Hearing Dog Program was presented by Lion Lance Roberts and assisting him was Lion Peter Massey (A recipient of a Lions Hearing Dog) and Hearing Dog Sandy.

Lions Clubs are part of community life, in the cities and in the country. Clubs are easily identified by their distinctive Logo, the trademark of our International Association, and the 'We Serve'; motto.

Lions Australia is part of an international association, filled with people who are joined by the common desire to make their communities better, by using their creativity, enthusiasm and energy.

Membership is open to all people of the community in good standing.

BAREFOOT LAWN BOWLS

Lion's cannot "Roar" on an empty stomach, so we start out with a hearty breakfast on a cool Sunday morning, put on by the members of the Jindalee Bowls Club.

A social day of Barefoot Bowls was enjoyed by around 25 members and their family recently at the Jindalee Bowls Club. The club has a tradition of having a social event every month to celebrate those members having a Birthday, in this case it is the June birthday babies.

Anzac Day Service - Forest Lake

Forest Lake Lions help out at the ANZAC Day service on the 25th of April each year with tents, traffic marshalls and after the service this year (2011) provided tea, coffee and biscuits. This year is the first year that we have not provided lunch for the RSL members and their guests.

Forest Lake Lions help out every year with the ANZAC Day service on the 25th of April with our tents, supplying traffic marshalls and after the service provide lunch and drinks for RSL Members, their familes and friends at Community House.

Forest Lake Lodge Nursing Home Visitation Xmas Day 2009

Every year on Christmas Day members get together to vist the local Nursing Home to hand out lollies and softdrinks with the aid of Santa, we had two Santas last Christmas to be able to get around the whole complex to visit all of the residents. We even tried singing some Christmas Carols for them.

Forest Lake Lodge Nursing Home Visitation Xmas Day 2010

Above: 2010 - Forest Lake Lions have been visiting the residents at the Lodge every year on Christmas Day for the last 7 years. Many of the residents have no family to visit them on Christmas Day.

Forest Lake Lodge Nursing Home Visitation Xmas Day 2011 - Photos below:

8am Christmas Day 2011, 30 club members and their families visited the elderly residents of the Forest Lake Lodge to hand out bags of lollies we made up and a can of softdrink to the residents, accompanying us, were two Santa to help us spread the Christmas spirit. We even tried to sing a few Christmas Carols to them.

Because it is such a large complex we have two Santas to cover the whole area, we split into two groups to get around to see every single elderly resident in the home. Some of them have no family to visit them on Christmas Day, and we know that they really appreciate us calling in to see them.

Community Service and induction of New Members

Lions members went to the Forest Lake Lodge on Mothers Day and presented all the ladies with a Rose, over 100 were handed out.

In the photo above with Lions Charles and Sharon is Jill, one of the ladies living at the lodge, unfortinately Jill is blind so she could not see the rose, but she certainly appreciated receiving the rose, along with all the other ladies at the lodge.

More Volunteers in More Places than Any Other Service Club Organization

When it comes to meeting challenges, our response is simple: We serve. In 205 countries, in hospitals and senior centers, in regions battered by natural disaster, in schools and in eyeglass recycling centers, Lions are at work, helping, leading, planning and supporting. Because we're local, we can serve the unique needs of the communities we live in. And because we're global, we can address challenges that go beyond borders.

We want everyone to see a better tomorrow.

That's why we support sight programs and services including vision screenings, eye banks and eyeglass recycling. Provide eye care services to those at risk of losing their sight. And raise donations through campaigns like SightFirst and Campaign SightFirst II.
